From Thursday 14th June 2012, Virgina King will be running a course – “Photoshop from the beginning”.

A 5 week introductory course for those with no, or very little knowledge of Photoshop

The course is based on Photoshop CS4 but will be suitable for Photoshop Elements

On Saturday 11 February we will be holding a workshop on basic photography from 10am to approximately 12.30. This is aimed primarily at newer members who are new to photography other than just “point and shoot”. Precise content will depend on the needs of those attending but are likely to be:

• Different types of camera for those considering a purchase
• Basic camera controls – for example why you might want to know about apertures and shutter speeds to control what is or is not in focus and the degree of motion blur
• Very very basic use of computer to process your images and the different programs available

If you already have an understanding of, for example, what depth of field is and how to control it then this workshop is probably too basic for you.

A separate evening  workshop on preparing PDIs and prints for competition and exhibition entry will be arranged and publicised shortly.

Introduction to Photography 

September 2011

The Course will comprise four 3 hour sessions on alternate Saturday mornings commencing at 10 am as follows:

• 3 September
• 17 September
• 1 October
• 15 October

Each session will commence with a “classroom” period followed by hands on practical use of your camera. Subject to weather conditions, the practical period will be outdoors.
The Course is aimed at photographers with a DSLR or more advanced compact camera who may be a little baffled by the plethora of controls, settings and menu options.
Topics covered will include:

• Digital camera controls and settings
• Understanding apertures, shutter speeds and ISO
• Management and enhancement of images on the computer
• “What makes a good photograph?”

The Course is free to new full members joining Bromley Camera Club by 20 August 2011. The cost of joining and membership until September 2012 is £70. A membership application form can be downloaded from this website.
The Course will be held at Oak Lodge, Watts Lane, Chislehurst, BR7 5PJ. Depending on numbers, it may be necessary to change the venue.

Creative Bromley will be holding an
Open Exhibition and other events in support of
the ‘International Year of the Forest’. We don’t
have forests in Bromley but we do have trees,
woodlands, woods and 150 parks and open
spaces to provide you with lots of inspiration.
The theme is very open, as well as the local
woods and woodlands think about the fauna and
flora that flourish in woodland areas. There
maybe fairies, wood nymphs or other creatures
in your woods.
