Tomorrow is our Members Evening on the theme of Music. After the tea break Steve will be demonstrating how to mount prints. It is also hand in for Round 2 of the Colour Print competition

Next week (8 November) is Round 2 of the Colour Print competition to be judged by Mick White.

KCPA Ross Cup – Saturday 10 November at Ditton Community Centre, Kiln Barn Rd, Ditton, Aylesford ME20 6QR

The Ross Cup is the KCPA’s most prestigious competition with affiliated clubs from Kent, Sussex and South London joining in to take part in this popular annual print competition. Doors open to the public at 1:00pm and the event is expected to finish around 5:30. Do come along and see all the images entered on display. The judge for this year’s competition is Mark Buckley-Sharp ARPS CPAGB APAGB. Each club’s entry consists of 8 prints in 50cm x 40cm mounts, no more than 2 prints per photographer.

Lord Mayor’s Show – Saturday 10 November

All the usual floats and parades. On the day of the Lord Mayor’s show, as is traditional, St Paul’s Cathedral will be free to visit from 8:30am to 4:15pm

Blackheath Fireworks – Saturday 3 November

As one of the capital’s rare major displays that’s still free, Blackheath attracts crowds of up to 100,000 to its all-day Guy Fawkes bash. Colourful fairground rides take over the heath from midday; food and drink stalls open at 5:00pm and the fireworks kick off at 8:00pm. Don’t miss a wander through Blackheath Village, where the celebrations spill out into the streets.

Astronomy Photographer of the Year – National Maritime Museum on now and until 5 May 2019 is the largest international competition of its kind. Annually showcasing the best space photography from a global community astrophotographers. To celebrate the competition’s tenth year, we are opening a new gallery at the National Maritime Museum to display the winners alongside some of the best images from the last nine years. This year we welcomed artist Sarah Pickering to the judging panel, joining renowned comedian and keen amateur astronomer Jon Culshaw, Editor of BBC Sky at Night Magazine Chris Bramley and a host of experts in the worlds of art and astronomy. Month of Sundays Festival at The Royal Opera House – 4-25 November

The Royal Opera House is throwing open its doors every Sunday in November for an immersive new festival programme at just £5 per person. Exclusive pop-up opera and ballet performances will animate the new Royal Opera House spaces, as well as upcycling and dance workshops. Highlights include ROH Remembers on Sunday 11 November (2.30pm-5pm) when opera and ballet performances will explore artistic responses to World War I and you can take part in a family-friendly tea dance; and ROH Late on Sunday 25 November (6pm-9.30pm), which brings the Month of Sundays Festival to a close with a pub quiz hosted by Impact Dance Artistic Director Hakeem Onibudo, the chance to share a cuppa at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and watch performances from Lost Dog dance theatre company. Fireworks at High Elms Golf Course, Sunday 4th November

Join them at  High Elms Golf Course on Sunday 4th November for fireworks and more! Doors open at 6:00pm, and the fireworks display will start at 7:30pm. They will be selling fun glow items, food and drink, and there’ll be a DJ to entertain you. Tickets cost £8 for adults, £5 for children over five, or £20 for a family of four. Under fives go free. To book your tickets, call 01689 858 175 or call in to the clubhouse. This is a ticket only event, and there will be no ticket sales on the night.

 

Leigh Preston FRPS EFIAP, MPAGB will be giving his talk  ‘Hallmark, Lament and Performance’    A rare opportunity to see the work of this Photographer who lives in Gloucestershire – Tuesday 6 November – 7:45 for 8:00pm

Leigh Preston holds two RPS Fellowships, one for pictorial images taken of the mill towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire and the other for Darkroom printing. He is a member of the ARENA group of photographers. His talk features his northern photos, history, concerts, sporting and festival events. Venue: Old Coulsdon Bowling Club, 81 Coulsdon Road, Coulsdon CR5 2LD. Parking is available and there is a bar at this venue. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in the £5 Visitor Fee.

Due to unforeseen circumstances at Seaford PS they are no longer able to host this year’s KCPA AV Competition.  Therefore, unfortunately the competition has to be postponed. 

The future of this competition will be raised at the Delegates Meeting when other options will be

considered by the Committee.  In the meantime all entries and cheques will be held over pending

discussion at the Delegates Meeting on 24th November 2018.
