PDI Competitions – the email address for submission has changed to pdisecretary@bromleycameraclub.org.uk.

The first  PDI competition round is on 10 October and hand in is on 3rd October. Emails must be sent by midnight on hand in date. Alternatively you can give Steve Jones a memory stick or CD on that day. As many judges now want a preview Steve will have to prepare and send them a CD by post before the competition so scope to accept late entries is very limited. You can enter up to three images in each round.

Reminder as to format: Max 1400 pixels wide by 1050 high; max quality jpeg; File name must be in format: Image Title by Your Name.jpg.  Example: Ginger Cat by Steve Jones. It is important to include the word “by” with a space either side in order to separate the Title (which is displayed) from the entrant’s name (which is not). It is no longer necessary for the Title to be in block capitals.

Two days of free events and activities to celebrate the opening of King’s Cross Square, which will be taken over by a Victorian Carnival with fairground rides, sideshows and street entertainers. There will also be a celebration of the area’s gritty industrial past behind the station in Granary Square. Take the miniature train to Granary Square and taste the darker side of Victorian life; children can try chimney sweeping and shovelling coal, while ladies sip gin cocktails and gentlemen race penny farthings.

The O2

Summer Project 2013

Congratulations to Team V who the Judge chose as being the best presentation on the night.  The runners-up were London Pride.  The best photograph was by John Hackett for his picture of the O2 and landing stage, which incidentally was also part of Team V’s presentation, so congratulations to all concerned.

Adobe Update

It seems that Adobe Elements is getting better and better – But they have a competitor in Corel photo x6

Adobe has released version 12 of its Photoshop Elements software for Mac and Windows. One of the highlights of the latest version of this consumer-friendly photo editor is ‘Mobile Access’, which uses Adobe’s Revel cloud service to let users view and retouch photos on their mobile devices, keeping everything in sync. Other new features include ‘Content-Aware Move’, guided editors, and 64-bit support for Macs. Best of all, there’s no monthly subscription fee.
