Photography Talks

On Wednesday 24 October at 8 pm Beckenham Photographic Society, as part of their Kent Tour programme, are presenting “Gathering Light” by John Hooton FIPF, EFIAP, FRPS, MFIAP from County Cork who will be showing a selection of his prints.  Beckenham meet at St. John’s Church, Middle Hall, Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham BR3 3JN.

At the RPS’s Thames Valley Centre, Woosehill Community Hall, Emmview Close, Wokingham RG41 3DA on Sunday 21 October Margaret Salisbury FRPS MFIAP FIPF APAGB will give several talks.  Margaret will start with a talk entitled Choosing the Right Paper for your Picture – in which she will highlight and discuss the benefits of choosing the best paper surface for each individual print. There will be plenty of opportunity to touch and feel sample prints. A Fotospeed sponsored talk.  Then Margaret will be showing images of ‘Village life in Ghana’, from the perspective of panels assembled for two Fellowships with quite different submission requirements.  In the afternoon, Margaret will show a selection of her personal images that she has taken when travelling, and tell the stories that go with them, not only of people but the landscape, to show, as she says, her view in a pictorial way of the places she has been to over the past ten years. She will be showing both colour and monochrome prints. Margaret plans to include images of India, Turkey, Egypt, America, Africa, and back to the slate areas of Wales (“the place I really belong to, and the pictures I started with”) with more recent pictures.  Day tickets cost £5.00.  Free tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day.  Advance booking advised.  www.rps.org/group/Thames-Valley-Centre/Tickets-for-Events
