Photography Exhibitions

The Royal Albert Hall and Getty Images Gallery in association with the Scott Polar Research Institute presents a new exhibition of photographs from Robert Falcon Scott’s epic voyage to the South Pole.  Expedition photographer Herbert Ponting’s beautiful and graphic photographs record the conditions faced by the explorers and capture the stark beauty of the Antarctica of 100 years ago. The collection provides a stirring testament to the heroism and bravery of all involved and perfectly encapsulates the spirit of adventure and discovery that marked their courageous journey.  At Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, SW72AP on Sunday 11 November 10 am to 3pm, Saturday 1 December 10 am to 3pm and Sunday 2 December 10 am to 1 pm.  Admission free.

The Victoria and Albert Museum are holding a new exhibition entitled “Light from the Middle East” from 13 November to 7 April 2013.  Admission free.

Theme Competition

Each season we have a competition based on a particular subject or theme.  This season’s competition is on 7 March 2013.  The theme will be “The Old and the New” and will be based on a panel of 3 to 5 prints.  For those members who have little or no experience of putting together a panel, Betty will reveal all on 14 February 2013. It is not as difficult as you think! In essence, the prints will need to look as a set, complimenting each other. You can specify if they are all in a line, on two rows or some other configuration.  By giving you much more notice of the subject than previously, it is hoped that many more members will enter this competition.  Any print used in this competition will not preclude it from being used in future Club Competitions, the Kerri Cup Competition or the Annual Exhibition, subject to being in the same format.

The Club walk described above will provide opportunities for this competition.

Just for Information

On Wednesday 14 November to mark the birthday of the Prince of Wales, there will be Gun Salutes in Hyde Park and at the Tower of London.
